LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- SATURDAY MORNING UPDATE – The forecast is still on track for winter weather this weekend.

The timing of the snow is Saturday morning through early Sunday morning. Rain will switch to snow gradually in the day as cold air funnels in.

Northwest Arkansas, particularly over the Ozarks, is already seeing snow as of Saturday morning. For the Little Rock metro, the change-over will not happen until this afternoon. The majority of any snow accumulation, outside of northwest Arkansas will occur during the late afternoon, evening, and nighttime hours Saturday.

The snow will be out of the state before sunrise Sunday.

Snow total estimates range widely across the state. North and northeastern Arkansas will see the most with 5 + possible. 2-5″ expected for northwest Arkansas and in parts of east Arkansas as far south as Cleveland county. Ouachita mountains could also see the higher accumulation of 2-5″. Central Arkansas could get 1-2″ of snow. South Arkansas and the Arkansas River valley will see less. with less than an inch anticipated.

The snow will be wet and heavy. Slushy roads could impact travel Saturday afternoon for north Arkansas. The biggest impact to travel for central Arkansas will be Sunday morning. This is why a winter storm warning, watch, and winter weather advisory have been issued for Saturday into early Sunday morning. Winter Weather Advisories (counties in purple) can expect 1+ inches of snow. Winter Storm Warnings (counties in white) and Winter Storm Watches (counties in blue) can expect 4″+ of snow.

Sunshine with temperatures in the upper 30s to lower and middle 40s by Sunday afternoon will help melt any snow we do see. By the Monday morning commute, most if not all roadways should be clear.

Arkansas Voter Lists Added to Searchable Website Database

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Voter Reference Foundation (VRF) recently posted Arkansas’ voter list to its online, searchable platform with the aim to increase election transparency.

According to a press release, some states have fought back in the Courts, and the group recently won a legal battle on this matter in New Mexico. VRF calls that recent federal court ruling “a strong victory for election transparency,” as it allowed for the voter rolls in New Mexico to be published after Federal Judge James O. Browning stopped state officials from blocking the publication.

Push to put recreational marijuana in Arkansas on November ballot hits roadblock

VRF first posted the voter data for New Mexico online in December 2021 and then removed it in March 2022 after threats from the New Mexico Secretary of State that publication was illegal.

“In conclusion, New Mexico’s Election Code does not prohibit Voter Reference’s publication of voter data online,” Judge Browning wrote in his opinion.

Since its establishment in 2021, the VRF has published voter roll data from 29 states and the District of Columbia. The site represents more than half the nation’s population and is the first of its kind to grant citizens “the ability to view who is eligible to vote, when they voted, and other basic election data.”

The website in question is available here and allows users to browse voters and elections by state.
